Dear blog reader,
Long breaks between the posts but I promise to be more active in 2011 with stories from journeys in life. As a starting point I have this christmas learnt that most of my favourite swedish authors have been labeled Swedish Crime.
Several of the crime books are tied to a specific city as follows:
- STOCKHOLM - Lisbeth Salander & Mikael Blomkvist by Stieg Larsson. 45 Million copies sold! Looking forward to the premiere of the US film version.
- YSTAD - Kurt Wallander by Henning Mankell. Final book in the decalogue high on pocket top lists.
- KIRUNA - Rebecka Martinsson by Åsa Larsson. Quadrology, "Solstorm" released as movie, but the other ones are equally good.
- SANDHAMN - Thomas Andreasson by Viveca Sten. Three to date with #3 in pocket coming out now in January.
- FJÄLLBACKA - Patrik and Erica by Camilla Läckberg. Seven books published and entering the US in 2011 with "The Preacher".
- STOCKHOLM - Fredrika Bergman by Kristina Ohlsson. First book in 2009 and third already announced.
- ÖLAND - Johan Theorin. Half way through a Quadrology with seasonal division. Great newcomer.
- STOCKHOLM - JW by Jens Lapidus. Fast from books to movies.
- LINKÖPING - Malin Fors by Mons Kallentoft. Quadrology, seasonal division with the fourth to be published as pocket this spring. Great travel writer in SAS magazines.
- STOCKHOLM - Johan Kristian Homan by Jan Mårtenson. 37 books with writing combined with a career as ambassador.
- GOTLAND - Anders Knutas by Mari Jungstedt. Zicksacking the Gotland Island, eight books to date.
- STOCKHOLM - The A-group by Arne Dahl. A decalogue completed, to be followed by four new books starting mid 2011.
There are also a few ones that are not tied to a specific city that is high up on my list
- Karin Alvtegen. Various themes and really good ones.
- Annika Bengtzon by Liza Marklund. 7 big bestsellers.
- Evert Grens by Roslund & Hellström. "3 Seconds" hitting the US as book and Hollywood movie is in the works, and four more books to read.
and a recognition to our neighbours as well
- Harry Hole by Jo Nesbo. Number 8 sooooon hitting the pocket shops.
So if you are tired of snowshowels, run to the bookstore and prepare for some relaxing time in your favourite chair.
