Up in the air - some connections can be rare

Dear blogreader,

The Up In The Air movie did hit the screens earlier this spring and sounded quite promising as a candidate for a road worrior must.

An finally the DVD made it into my player and kicked of some relaxing moments. It had quite a bit of points and I started to wonder how many of these thoughts that have crossed my mind before. And it was quite a few.

First the whole 10 Million miles thing. Is it real? Is it doable? A mormal pace at 30 000 fet is around 550 mph or 900 km/h. 10Mn miles would take you ballpark 20 000 flighthours. Given that a pilot fligh around 500 hours it would take 40 odd years of serious flying. So unless the Business premium is included it is difficult task to say the least.

My personal reflections of the flight gossip
  • Having a milage accomplishment target in mind - crazy and putting emhpasis on the wrong things
  • Travelling to avoid settling down - could be so.
  • Travelling to avoid family - not very likely, flying can not replace family and friends.
  • Connecting at airports - an art you can become quite good at.
  • Connecting on planes - the life stories from the one next to you often have a lot to tell.
  • Replacing airmiles with Visual Communication - soon here and a major disruption for both Airlines and Telecommunication companies.
All in all a great movie, worth enyoing and reflecting upon.

All the best
