Just about to come to an end of my first 10 days without any plans in a friendly family hotel in the Seychelles. The idyllic island across the ocean in front of my hotell, called Silhouette, has been just a silhouette since we have had a bit of clouds almost everyday. Recently the wind has been picking up and the wind converted yesterday's snorkeltrip to a marine park into a trip, since all the fine sand in the water was stirred up by the wind and visibility turned into zero. Happily enough I did not let rain ruin my day, I just changed plans and bought spices at the market instead
The waterscooter, the windsurfingbaord, the kayak, the diving tubes are all standing on the beach when I pass on my morning walk and I am quite pleased with myself that they are all standing there even after I have passed. Not having to test a new thing is part of my first 10 relaxing days where reading books under a tree on the beach has been a great joy. The only new thing I should have tested was the new sun tanning lotion, and done it already on the first day. I am still facinated by my own idea that a lit bit of sun can not make you suntanned. I guess I will be leaving the Mahe island on Friday with most of the skin I came in, remaining in my bed ....
I am staring to become the "oldtimer" at the small hotel and have seen many new guest come and go. The fun part of staying at an 8 room hotel, with an included 8-9am breakfast, is that you almost get to know all guest by name. Last night we had a beer and chat evening at the veranda about all kinds of things. We you have the opportunity to German drink beer with a South African, working for a Candian mine company in Mauretania you certainly pick up a few new things in life. Give me a week or two and I might be able to put both Mocambique and Bhotwsana in the right place on a map, and spell them right....
But that is a task for when I get back to home , no it is time to do a few activities around Mahe, and a few days of Island hopping to Praslin (slower) and La Digue (slooooowest) before heading back. I even avoided the temptation to put Praslin as #149 with some good assitance from the Air Sechelles airfares for domestic 15min hops.
