Most of us have, or have a friend that has, tried to create the perfect life. A life with a great wife/husband, kids, career, employyer, place to live, summer house, car and plenty of cash to do whatever you want. But have you ever reflected on that you actually have two choices, either search for the perfect life and hope for a lot of great days to come as a result, or to search for the perfect day, and let a great life come as a result.
When searching for a great life, the odds are against you, you have one shoot at finding the right one of all the parameters you decide to be relevant for your fantastic life, and every time one or several of them fails, a serious set-back have been put into your perfect journey, and a lot of bad days could follow. The odds are further worsened by the fact that all things you strive for are big in nature and hard to reach and tend to show up one at a time per year at best, often as a result of a multi-year journey.
Why not turning to something easier and more rewarding, why not search for the perfect day, every day, Mondays, Wednesdays as well as Thursdays. You have 7 chances every week, all 52 weeks of the year and all years of your life.
First do not restrict your options to just Fridays evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. Second find the small things in life that make you happy, things where one a day make the difference between a mediocre and a great day. Start by consulting your childhood memory for fun things, the small things you liked as a kid are most likely things that you would enyoj today. An effort to stay teenager by 75 might be a better option than grown up by 25.
Next try to interact daily with at least one person that constantly have a possitive impact on your energy level, a personal meeting, a phone call, a mail, an SMS, a chat or
a classical postcard is more rewarding that you might think, independently if you where the initiating party or not.
One of my best friends live after the slogan "do not die curious" adopt that by testing new things that you have not tried before. Typical bachelor party activities might spice up your life in between, or when all your friends are married. When did you last play curling, did fence, biked around or hosted a party or whatever you have thought about doing.
And last but not least, search for the small things in life that make can your day rewarding, one or two chapters in a book, a physical exercize, a new ingredient in your cooking for dinner, a new song from iTunes or simply completing a long overdue action that is bugging you.
With these ideas I hope that you have founds some thoughts that could allow you to create a great life based on a large number of fantastic days, as an alternative the task of creating the perfect life, that is an overwhelming task for most of us humans.
