What kind of stress can make you freak – and create a substantial energy leak

Stress and burn-out syndromes seem to plague our generation, in ways that were unknown to our parents. We have invented new phrases that we sometimes refer to as personal goals, like “Managing the life puzzle”, “Proactive stress management”, “Finding job balance” “Getting the hamster out of your life” etc.

Everyday stress elements might be related to our job, the conflict between job/family/own interests. We have learnt that stress triggers often come as large changes in life; Move to a new town, changes in relationship status, get kids, changeo f jobs, near and dear passing away etc. This might be the obvious ones and the ones we plan for, but I have attended two courses and identified other major elements that provoke stress in ways I did not realize before.

Communication, Clarity and Predictability are key ingredients in stable, safe and encouraging environment. But what about the opposites.

Silence, Unclear and Insecure have the opposite impact. With 40+ years of life experience you through you have learnt most of them. Not true! Being silent when you want to talk and silence when you want to listen, are stressful one at a time and both in combination are very destructive. Sometimes you wonder what 40+ years of life meant. Dear blog, I will revert on this topic. Lack of clarity makes us spend efforts on the wrong things, and come back depressed due to results falling below expectations. Not good at all. And finally, an insecure environment where borderlines wrt norms, roles, language, human interactions etc. can carry you away from reality.
A lot of deep thoughts but a key insight from this week’s school of life, ask a question when you want to tell something. And you can avoid “over-speaking”, "over problemizing" and "over solving" the situation with the risk of destroying substantial values in the process.
